Front Row Entertainment
As many of our readers may be aware, the music scene in Pembrokeshire is electric. However, it has been said that it feels somewhat disjointed at times amongst the smaller venues and many up and coming bands. The talent is undoubtedly there, the music lovers are abundant, and the venues seem to want to be involved in the uprising. It just seems like someone needs to join the dots, cross the t’s and underline this issue. This week, I was in the Front Row with Rob and Luke, part of a small group of West Wales music lovers who aim to do just that. Front Row Entertainment is a brand-new project with the sole purpose of contributing to the growth and sustainability of the music industry in Pembrokeshire. They have started with nothing but their passion, experience and connections, and aim to provide the musicians of West Wales with a platform to promote their music as well as encouraging musicians from outside of Pembrokeshire to come to the county to promote their music. There is no doubt that the duo have an unlimited supply of passion and ambition and I can only help but feel inspired by their campaign. But why now, I thought. Why have they decided to work on such a project at this point? We are currently on top of what seems to be the peak of the music scene across West Wales in recent years. To ensure that the scene continues to grow and evolve, someone needs to step up, roll up their sleeves and do the messy jobs and be the middleman to connect artist to venue, band to the promoter, entertainer to event. In a recent interview Rob clarified;
“We are just a group of musicians, music lovers, and people within the music industry who have identified an empty space in the market and we want to use the platforms we have to good use”
Luke is an established musician himself. He has had a wealthy solo career to date and is also the frontman of local band “The Dumbcakes”.
Rob spent several years as frontman of local rock band “Down with the Enemy” and has since turned his attention to the other end of the industry, working on the local radio circuit.
His show “Pure West Presents” on Pure West Radio is dedicated to promoting unsigned artists. There is no doubt that between them they have the tools to make this work and really make a difference to the local industry. Front Row Entertainment will start as a booking agent, taking the stress and work off the shoulders of venues and promoters and working as a catalyst for the event. In time, they aim to put on their very own high-profile events. This year alone we have seen some big names perform in the county, Status Quo, UB40, Bonnie Tyler, Sister Sledge, Martin Kemp, Example and Fat Man Scoop to name but a few and Luke went on to add;

“We can only dream of bringing artists of that calibre to the county, but we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t our ambition”.
In general, there seems to be an invisible barrier for touring bands and artists that stop them from coming further west than Swansea. We have the venues, we have the crowds, so let’s do something about that. Front Row Entertainment expressed their intention of working closely with us here at Stargazer Music Magazine and The Welsh Factor sharing their ambition to assist local musicians and inspire the next generation, we wish them all the best with their future endeavours as their strength within the industry is already shining.
